General

ZARQA: The Zarqa Journal for Research and Humanitarian Studies, a publication of the Deanship of Scientific Research at Zarqa University, has achieved a significant milestone by ranking first locally and fourth in the Arab world for 2024. This accomplishment is based on the Arab Citation and Impact Factor (ARCIF) criteria, which assess accreditation standards.

According to Jordan News Agency, the journal is recognized in the category of “Interdisciplinary Humanities” and has been placed in the highest journal category for 2024 (Q1). The rankings are determined by the impact factor and reference citations provided by the “Ma’arifa” database for scientific production and content, evaluating a total of 252 journals in this field.

Nidhal Al Ramahi, President of Zarqa University, praised the efforts of the Deanship of Scientific Research and the university’s achievements in research and scientific endeavors. He highlighted the ongoing support from Mahmoud Abu Shairah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Zarqa
Educational and Investment Company, which bolsters the university’s pursuit of scientific, research, and community excellence. Al Ramahi noted that the ranking underscores the distinguished position of Zarqa University’s scientific journals at both local and Arab levels, particularly as the journal has been a specialized publication in the humanities and social sciences for nearly 25 years.

Khaled Al-Qawasmi, Dean of Scientific Research, explained that the journal successfully met the impact factor and citation standards set by ARCIF, which encompass 31 international criteria developed by the Ma’arifa database. This development occurs under the supervision and coordination of the UNESCO Regional Office, ESCWA, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), and the Special Libraries Association (SLA). Al-Qawasmi emphasized that this achievement will encourage academic researchers in the humanities and social sciences to publish in Arabic-language journals and cite their research akin to international scientific journals.
