UAE Relief Campaign Collects 250 Tonnes of Aid for Lebanon at Expo Sharjah

SHARJAH: The national relief initiative, ‘UAE stands with Lebanon,’ successfully amassed 250 tonnes of relief aid at Expo Centre Sharjah, with the efforts of 3,000 volunteers from various sectors of the UAE society. The campaign was part of a concerted effort to provide aid to Lebanon, showcasing the UAE’s commitment to humanitarian support.

According to Emirates News Agency, the aid collection drive was organized under the supervision of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council. It was spearheaded by the Big Heart Foundation (TBHF) and Sharjah Charity International (SCI) in collaboration with several Emirati humanitarian organizations and charitable associations. The campaign was launched following directives from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, and was closely monitored by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and supervised by H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamme
d bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs.

The event in Sharjah witnessed significant participation from the community, including the presence of prominent figures such as Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler’s Office, and Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Charity International (SCI). Their involvement underscored the leadership’s commitment to aiding those in need.

Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi emphasized the UAE’s dedication to humanitarian work, lauding the collective efforts of the various humanitarian institutions involved. Mariam Al Hammadi, Director General of TBHF, highlighted the widespread support the campaign has garnered, noting the enthusiastic contributions from both public and private sectors. Abdullah bin Khadem, Executive Director of the Sharjah Charity International, remarked on the diverse community engagement, reflecting the altruisti

These include the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, and several other charitable entities across the nation.
