AMMAN: In accordance with royal directives, Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi convened with representatives of Tafileh Governorate at the Royal Hashemite Court to discuss potential development and investment opportunities. The meeting was held following the recent visit of King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Al Hussein to Tafileh, which was part of the celebrations marking the King’s silver jubilee.

According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting was aimed at addressing the King’s directives to explore avenues for development in Tafileh, with a particular focus on tourism and agriculture, and to enhance local infrastructure and services. Representatives from Tafileh expressed appreciation for the royal visit, noting its potential to positively impact the region. Their requests centered on boosting tourism and agricultural projects, improving infrastructure, and attracting investment to alleviate poverty and unemployment.

The representatives emphasized the role of large companies in the area in contributing to the
local community by creating job opportunities and supporting development projects. They proposed the establishment of a dedicated development fund and underscored the significance of public-private partnerships in fostering economic growth.

The discussion highlighted Tafileh’s rich natural, religious, and archaeological heritage, with calls for investment in tourism initiatives such as a proposed cable car project in Dana. The need to support the agricultural sector by optimizing dam water usage and addressing challenges facing local farmers was also stressed.

Support for Tafila Technical University was another focal point, with representatives calling for the creation of new faculties for agriculture and medical professions, facility upgrades, and solutions to financial challenges. The importance of attracting factories to the industrial city was also noted, as current investment levels were deemed insufficient.

Issawi assured the attendees that all proposals would be coordinated with relevant authorities
and pursued for implementation in alignment with government plans and priorities.
