Amman: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, met with his Iranian counterpart, Dr. Abbas Araghchi, as part of Araghchi’s regional tour aimed at discussing de-escalation in the Middle East.

According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting focused on bilateral issues and efforts to halt the escalation that threatens regional and international peace. The ministers discussed initiatives to prevent a comprehensive regional war and agreed to begin a systematic dialogue to address all bilateral issues. These discussions aim to foster relations based on mutual respect, non-interference in internal affairs, and cooperation that would benefit both nations.

Safadi emphasized the importance of stopping the Israeli aggression on Gaza and Lebanon and the Israeli escalation in the occupied West Bank against Palestinian people, as well as against Islamic and Christian holy sites. He stated that these actions are crucial first steps to de-escalate tensions and restore regional calm. Additi
onally, Safadi affirmed Jordan’s stance of neutrality, asserting that Jordan will not be a battlefield for any conflicts, nor will it allow any violations of its sovereignty and airspace that could threaten its citizens’ security.

The resolution of the Middle East crisis, according to Safadi, hinges on fulfilling the rights of the Palestinian people to freedom and an independent sovereign state within the June 4, 1967 borders, with occupied Jerusalem as its capital. This, he said, is the only way to achieve a just and comprehensive peace that ensures security for all involved parties.
