ABU DHABI: The Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) and the Emirates News Agency (WAM) signed on Thursday a strategic partnership agreement to develop the content for the Encyclopaedia of UAE Leaders ‘Al-Ittihad’ and bolster their cooperation.
Dr. Sultan Mohammed Al-Nuaimi, Director-General of ECSSR, and Mohamed Jalal Alrayssi, Director-General of WAM, signed the agreement at the ECSSR headquarters, in the presence of representatives from both sides.
Dr. Al Nuaimi affirmed ECSSR’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with local institutions to ensure the activation and continuous development of the Encyclopaedia of UAE Leaders, so that it remains the most comprehensive source for the sayings of the wise leadership. He underlined the importance of the partnership with WAM, which has a long history and a vast repository of information related to the UAE leadership.
The ECSSR Director-General explained that the encyclopaedia is a reliable reference for researchers, scholars, and anyone in
terested in exploring the inspiring intellectual heritage of the UAE’s wise leadership.
For his part, Alrayssi emphasised the significance of the Encyclopaedia of UAE Leaders, which aims to make a record of the intellectual heritage of the UAE leadership on one platform, including multiple search methods to help researchers, scholars, and anyone interested in exploring this rich and timeless legacy. He highlighted the encyclopaedia’s excellence in terms of ease of access and credibility.
The WAM Director-General said that the Agency is committed to boosting its cooperation with research institutions in the country and supporting them. This partnership agreement to cooperate in developing the content of the “Al-Ittihad” encyclopaedia and raise awareness of it is part of such efforts, he added, noting that the encyclopaedia provides access to documented materials and comprises an invaluable historical, cultural and intellectual heritage.
Under the agreement, ECSSR will provide direct access to the online enc
yclopaedia through WAM’s official website, display WAM’s logo as a strategic partner, feature direct access to WAM’s official website on the platform, and train WAM employees to use the encyclopaedia and leverage rich content.
For its part, WAM will contribute to growing the encyclopaedia’s content, leveraging its status as one of the main and top sources of UAE leadership-related content. It will also promote the encyclopaedia on its official website and social media platforms, and cover all events related to the encyclopaedia as a media partner of ECSSR.
ECSSR launched the Encyclopaedia of UAE Leaders ‘Al-Ittihad’ on 25th January, 2024. Its mission is to build a comprehensive national online platform providing access to the intellectual heritage of the UAE leadership, using robust research principles, to serve as an authentic reference for researchers. This dynamic encyclopaedia is a constantly growing platform, as it continues to collect the intellectual heritage of the UAE leaders across the past, prese
nt and future. Compiled in one comprehensive interactive online platform, it now includes around 15,000 items of enduring written, audio and visual statements, sayings and works, spanning a variety of areas.
