Dubai: a civil society organisation affiliated with the UN Department of Global Communications, has joined the “UAE Stands with Lebanon” initiative. This partnership focuses on providing urgent relief to children and families in Lebanon affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis. The initiative seeks to mobilize the UAE community, including individuals, institutions, and businesses, to raise critical funds for emergency relief efforts, aligning with the broader efforts of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.

According to Emirates News Agency, the collaboration between Dubai Cares and the “UAE Stands with Lebanon” initiative is a response to the acute humanitarian needs in Lebanon, where families face severe shortages of food, shelter, and warmth amidst ongoing conflicts. With the winter season approaching, these conditions are expected to worsen, prompting urgent action. The fundraising drive by Dubai Cares aims to deliver essential supplies such as food and winterisation kits, as well
as educational and psychological support to help displaced families cope with their circumstances.

Dr. Tariq Al Gurg, CEO and Vice-Chairman of Dubai Cares, highlighted the dire situation in Lebanon, emphasizing the urgent need for collective action to provide relief. “Lebanon is currently facing a catastrophic humanitarian crisis, with countless families displaced and struggling to access even the most basic necessities such as food, shelter, and warmth. As winter looms, the need for emergency relief is more critical than ever. At Dubai Cares, we firmly believe in the power of collective action. By joining the UAE Stands with Lebanon initiative, we are committed to providing immediate, life-saving support to the most vulnerable families. We invite the UAE community to join hands with us in this mission, ensuring that vital supplies reach those who need them most,” said Dr. Al Gurg.

The fundraising initiative offers various ways for individuals and organisations to contribute, ensuring that donations provide
comprehensive support. Contributions will focus on delivering essential food supplies, securing shelter, and providing winterisation kits for families to withstand the cold months ahead. Additionally, the initiative aims to support psychological wellbeing, helping children and families recover from the trauma of displacement and promoting holistic aid during these challenging times.
