Jerash: Two new culinary academies are set to open in Jerash and Madaba next month, aiming to enhance skills in the culinary arts and support the tourism and hotel sectors. These academies are part of a broader initiative to advance culinary education across four Jordanian governorates, including Aqaba and Irbid, which are expected to complete their academies by mid-next year.

According to Jordan News Agency, Dr. Khaled Bakkar, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vocational Training Corporation and Minister of Labor, recently assessed the final preparations for the Jerash culinary academy. The institution will offer a variety of programs designed to meet the needs of the tourism and hotel industry. This initiative aligns with a Royal directive to improve culinary arts education in Jerash, Madaba, Aqaba, and Irbid, consistent with the VTC’s strategic objectives and the Economic Modernization Vision.

During his visit, Dr. Bakkar highlighted that both the Jerash and Madaba academies are nearing compl
etion. Meanwhile, the academies in Aqaba and Irbid have reached 50% completion and are projected to open by the end of the second quarter next year. Each academy will accommodate approximately 150 trainees of both genders, with an anticipated employment rate for graduates reaching up to 90%.

The academies will also offer training in additional skills, including English language proficiency, computer literacy, occupational safety and health, and entrepreneurship, to ensure the comprehensive development of their alumni.
