Acting health minister probes how to benefit from expertise of UK-resident Egyptian doctors

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Acting Minister of Health and Population Dr Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met on Saturday 21/05/2022 members of the Egyptian physicians’ association in Britain at the Egyptian Cultural Center in London.

The meeting tackled ways to benefit from the physicians’ expertise in updating specialized medical training programs in Egypt, as well as the possibility of hosting Egyptian physicians to receive training in complex medical specialties at UK hospitals.

Abdel Ghaffar also discussed with the association members developing a mechanism for arranging visits by UK-resident Egyptian doctors to Egypt, accompanied by their nursing and technical staff, making use of the association experts’ participation in remotely (digital) diagnosing complex medical conditions.

The minister and association members have also agreed to draw up a plan for sharing advice on various treatment protocols, especially those dedicated for treating cancers through targeted therapy and immunotherapy.

The meeting took place as part of the minister’s overseas trip to participate in various events and meetings, in a bid to upgrade the national healthcare system and improve medical services.
