Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Reviews Progress in Saadiyat Cultural District

ABU DHABI: H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, recently visited the Saadiyat Cultural District to inspect the final stages of construction of its major museums and cultural institutions. The district, which includes the Zayed National Museum, the Natural History Museum – Abu Dhabi, and teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, is set to be fully operational by the end of 2025.

According to Emirates News Agency, during his tour, Sheikh Khaled emphasized the UAE’s commitment to preserving its cultural heritage and enhancing its status as a global cultural hub. He noted that the Saadiyat Cultural District is a reflection of the UAE’s dedication to documenting its history and fostering global cultural dialogues. The visit highlighted the near completion of the Zayed National Museum and the advanced stages of the other institutions within the district.

Sheikh Khaled also visited the Zayed National Museum, where he was briefed on the pr
ogress of the iconic building designed to resemble falcon feathers and its interior setups which are nearing completion. He toured the central atrium, designed to amplify the architectural beauty of the museum, and reviewed the galleries that will narrate the UAE’s rich history.

Furthermore, Sheikh Khaled met with engineering teams and local talent involved in the district’s projects, including the Natural History Museum, which will offer visitors a journey through the 13.8-billion-year history of the universe. He also inspected teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, a digital arts space designed to merge art with technology, fostering creativity through dynamic installations inspired by natural phenomena.

Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, commented on the district’s role in promoting artistic expression and creativity. He stated that the Saadiyat Cultural District hosts some of the world’s most significant cultural institutions, which not only tell the stories
of the UAE and the world but also foster creativity and innovation. This initiative is expected to draw visitors both locally and internationally, enhancing Abu Dhabi’s cultural influence globally.

The Saadiyat Cultural District has been developed in collaboration with Miral, Abu Dhabi’s leading creator of immersive destinations. The project aligns with the UAE’s long-standing commitment to cultural preservation, initiated by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and continues to facilitate cultural exchange and dialogue.
