Paris: Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, has called for immediate international intervention to halt what he described as Israeli aggression in Gaza, Lebanon, and the West Bank. Safadi’s remarks came during meetings with other foreign ministers on the sidelines of the International Conference in Support of Lebanon’s People and Sovereignty, held in Paris and inaugurated by French President Emmanuel Macron.

According to Jordan News Agency, Safadi emphasized that the international community must take decisive steps in alignment with international law to prevent further escalation. He accused Israel of violating international law with arrogance and called for actions to stop what he termed as war crimes in Gaza and Lebanon. Safadi highlighted the danger posed by illegal Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank and the threats to Palestinian people and holy sites in Jerusalem.

Safadi warned that the failure to enforce international law undermines the multilat
eral system and jeopardizes global peace and security. He condemned what he described as ethnic cleansing in northern Gaza, involving civilian bombings and forced displacement. He reiterated that international law clearly mandates the protection of civilians and the provision of essential resources such as food, water, and medicine.

In expressing Jordan’s support for Lebanon, Safadi stressed the need to stop aggression against the country and fully implement Security Council Resolution 1701. He assured that Jordan, under King Abdullah II’s directives, would continue to offer humanitarian aid to Lebanon. During his time in Paris, Safadi engaged in discussions with foreign ministers from Canada, Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands, Croatia, and the French President’s Special Envoy to Lebanon.

Safadi also met with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, to discuss the implications of reduced international support for Syrian refugees and the importance of facilitating their voluntary re
turn. Safadi is scheduled to meet with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in London tomorrow.
