AMMAN: His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan called for an immediate halt to extremist Israeli hostilities against Palestinians, cautioning that the ongoing violence could lead to a broader regional conflict. The King made these remarks during a meeting with a U.S. Congress delegation from the House’s Committee on Appropriations at Al Husseiniya Palace, where discussions focused on escalating tensions in the region.

According to Jordan News Agency, King Abdullah emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire in both Gaza and Lebanon to prevent further escalation. The King expressed concerns over the continuous violations of Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, stressing that such actions could have severe consequences. He also highlighted the importance of enhancing humanitarian efforts in Gaza, underscoring the necessity for uninterrupted medical and relief aid to the area.

The ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza was a focal point of the discussions, with the King appealing for sustained support for
international relief organizations. This support, he noted, is critical to ensuring that these organizations can continue to deliver essential services and aid to those in need within the Strip.

In addition to addressing the immediate regional concerns, the meeting also explored the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States. King Abdullah expressed gratitude for the sustained U.S. support across vital sectors in Jordan, signaling a commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The meeting was attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and U.S. Ambassador to Jordan Yael Lempert.
