Radaideh Heads Jordan’s Delegation to Middle East Green Initiative in Jeddah

JEDDAH: Jordan’s Minister of the Environment, Muawiyah Radaideh, led the country’s delegation at the first ministerial conference of the Middle East Green Initiative and the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment. The conference, which took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, served as a platform for Radaideh to address significant environmental issues and the impact of climate change affecting the region.

According to Jordan News Agency, Minister Radaideh highlighted Jordan’s efforts to combat environmental degradation through initiatives like the National Afforestation Project and the Roots Initiative. These projects aim to restore land and expand green spaces across the country, contributing to broader regional goals of sustainability and ecological preservation.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between Jordan and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, focusing on enhancing cooperation in environmental protection and preservation. This agreement underscores
the collaborative spirit of the conference, emphasizing joint efforts to address pressing environmental challenges.

Radaideh also engaged in several bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Egypt, Oman, and Uzbekistan. These discussions centered around future cooperation, particularly in reducing land degradation and desertification, which are critical issues facing many countries in the Middle East.
