Abu Dhabi Government Showcases AI-Driven Innovations and Elite Hackathon at GITEX Global 2024

Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Government has unveiled a series of AI-driven projects and an elite cyber hackathon at GITEX Global 2024, indicating a robust stride towards establishing itself as a leader in AI-enabled governance. The event, hosted at the Dubai World Trade Centre from October 14 to 18, features over 30 government entities and partners demonstrating innovative solutions under the theme “Towards an AI-native Government.”

According to Emirates News Agency, the event’s highlights include the debut of the “DGE Elite Hackathon,” organized by the Department of Government Enablement (DGE), which targets university students skilled in various cybersecurity disciplines. The hackathon challenges participants in a dynamic competition where they must both defend their systems and penetrate their adversaries’ defenses amidst live cyber threats. This intense four-day event aims to identify and nurture the UAE’s top cybersecurity talents.

DGE also launched GovGPT, an AI-driven knowledge agent developed specifical
ly for the Abu Dhabi Government, aiming to enhance the productivity of government employees by providing streamlined access to governmental resources and information, along with tools such as a PowerPoint Builder and a Tone-of-Voice checker.

In addition, the Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi (SCAD) introduced “Bayaan – The Unified Decision-Making Platform,” a sophisticated data platform designed to improve the quality of data collection, analysis, and visualization. Bayaan serves as a central hub for diverse datasets, empowering government and private entities with actionable insights for informed decision-making. Its advanced AI capabilities, including predictive analytics and machine learning, are intended to foster transparency and proactive governance.

Furthermore, the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) launched the AI ALC Audiobooks, an innovative project within the publishing sector that utilizes AI to produce audiobooks with natural human pronunciation. This project not only promotes the UAE’s cultu
ral heritage but also aligns with the government’s broader vision to integrate AI technologies across different sectors.

The Abu Dhabi Government’s participation in GITEX Global 2024 highlights its commitment to leveraging AI technology and data-driven strategies to enhance public services and improve the lives of its residents.
