Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Monday met with the foreign ministers of EU countries to discuss climate issues as part of his current visit to Luxembourg.

Shoukry is the President-designate of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP27) to the UN Framework Climate Change Convention (UNFCCC).

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez said the meeting aims to probe climate issues, given the fact that Egypt will play host to and chair COP27, slated in November in Sharm el Sheikh in addition to topics of mutual concern.

Shoukry met with his Czech counterpart Jan Lipavsky and discussed with him ways of boosting bilateral relations on all fronts as well as issues of mutual concern.

During the visit, Shoukry also met with Luxembourg’s Minister of Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development Joelle Welfring to probe cooperation and coordination in climate issues.
