Shoukry asserts Egypt’s interest in bolstering relations with Denmark

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry asserted Egypt’s interest in bolstering relations with Denmark at the political, economic, cultural, and parliamentary levels.

Shoukry made the remarks during his meeting on Thursday 12/5/2022 with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen as part of his visit to Copenhagen, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.

The foreign minister said Egypt is looking forward to boosting trade exchange with Denmark and opening up the space for increasing Egyptian exports to the Scandinavian country.

Shoukry emphasized Egypt’s interest in boosting Danish investments, promoting Denmark’s participation in Egyptian development plans, and increasing bilateral cooperation in a number of fields and sectors, foremost of which are renewable energy, green economy, healthcare, pharmaceutical production, logistics services, maritime transport, agriculture, and fisheries development.

He also lauded existing Danish projects in Egypt, which he said confirm the high returns on investment in Egypt.

In this regard, the Egyptian minister expressed hope that Danish companies would make use of the great investment opportunities available in his country.

Shoukry reviewed Egypt’s preparations for hosting the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference (COP27), welcoming cooperation with Denmark to ensure its success.

Meanwhile, the Danish prime minister said her country attaches importance to promoting its cooperation with Egypt and aspires to propel various aspects of bilateral relations; given Egypt’s position as a pivotal partner in the Middle East.
